The Nova Cultura program began in 2022, following the creation of the first Pro-rectorship for Culture at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. It was launched in the year of the University’s 50th anniversary celebrations, founded in 1973.
Goals:
1.
To disseminate, map, and articulate, on a single platform, the cultural and outreach initiatives of the NOVA community, as well as the intersections and dialogues between the University and the artistic and cultural sector;
2.
To promote the cultural participation of the university community in the city’s cultural life through mechanisms to encourage and strengthen access to culture;
3.
To open Nova’s spaces to the city through a cultural program built on the connection between knowledge produced at the university and artistic practice within and outside UNL.
This website was created to meet these goals, bringing together information on cultural initiatives promoted by the Rector’s Office and the various NOVA Schools, on research and outreach projects with a cultural dimension in all organizational units, on the cultural activities of the student community, and on points of cultural interest in our tangible and intangible heritage. The information presented here is constantly updated.
