Sometimes, when we listen to music, we imagine landscapes, adventures and even feelings. Simply sitting in front of an orchestra, we travel to distant places, to places that do not even exist, through memory and into the future. And all this without a single word being spoken. Music will never replace text or image, but there are score sheets that seem to want to tell us things. In this concert, we will think together about this possibility. How did Rossini so accurately portray Figaro’s tricks in the orchestral overture to The Barber of Seville? How did Mendelssohn manage to illustrate the waves of the sea and the setting of an impressive cave? How does Beethoven take us on a walk through the countryside and make us feel the joy of contact with nature?

The NOVA community has access to tickets for this concert. Confirmations must be sent to relacoespublicas@metropolitana.pt by 6:00 p.m. on January 21.
