The NOVA Music Festival was conceived in 2012 to welcome students at the start of the academic year and promote new Portuguese music. It is the only festival of its kind organized by a Portuguese university. It is a cross-curricular initiative across all NOVA faculties, taking place during freshman week and opening the campus to the community.

Previous editions have featured performances by B Fachada, Capitães da Areia, Capitão Fausto, Ciclo Preparatório, Da Chick, Diabo na Cruz, Noiserv, Samuel Úria, Pontos Negros, and Sequin. The event remained annual until the pandemic years, and resumed in 2022 in a new format, produced by NOVASU (Nova SBE)
on the Carcavelos Campus in collaboration with the Rector’s Office and the faculty.

The 2023 edition was integrated into the celebrations of Nova’s 50th anniversary as an activity focused on students and associated with the “Comboio das Artes” project, which connects several Nova Campuses through urban art.
