The NOVA Música Band Competition is an initiative that aims to promote and promote music among NOVA students, as well as foster the growth of new bands in the Portuguese music scene. The first edition took place in 2015 and has been held annually. The competition is open to individual musicians or bands that include NOVA students or alumni (including Erasmus students and students from other mobility programs). The jury and the public choose the three bands that will perform at the finals, where the winner is determined.

This competition is linked to the Nova Música Festival, where some of its winners have performed, or where the competition finals were held.
