The project aims to integrate writing done by women in the literary heritage, promoting the knowledge and dissemination of female authors who published between 1926 and 1974, since, even with regard to the 20th century, the canon of Portuguese literature is essentially male.
The project brings together contributions from two research units of NOVA FCSH (IELT e CICS-NOVA) and Le Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur le monde Lusophone (Univ. Paris Nanterre). It has already generated an open access database that is constantly being updated, covering the 1926-1974 period and data not available in other databases, literary dictionaries and encyclopedias.
In addition to the actions connected to the relational infrastructure, the project studies the national and international reception of the referenced women writers, trying to identify the cases of silencing and exclusion, and identify the literary sociabilities both at national and international level.
In terms of communication, its international colloquia stand out, some of which form part of the activity carried out by the French Embassy, and an agenda of gatherings, in which the sessions “Elas/Delas: Literary Conversations” at Livraria Snob (the last one, here).
