Within the scope of the Open Doors and Community Outreach strategy, NOVA Medical School frequently receives visits from different groups with the aim of getting to know the noble spaces of the Faculty Building, the former Medical-Surgical School.

On the 17th of June, the NMS will receive a visit from a group from the Centro Nacional de Cultura, as part of the Sunday Walks organized by the CNC. Theme of this tour is “A Colina da Saúde” and will be guided by Dr. Helena Gonçalves Pinto.

The Medical-Surgical School of Lisbon, started in 1890 with the authorship of the architect José Maria Nepumoceno, was inaugurated in February 1906 under the direction of the architect Leonel Gaia, with the participation of the artists Veloso Salgado, Malhoa, Teixeira Lopes, Alves Cardoso, Costa Mota and Moreira Rato, among others.

The building was built in a prominent place on Colina de Santana, contributing to the consolidation of a territory dedicated to innovation and teaching in the Life Sciences. It has been, since 1977, the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the name of NOVA Medical School.
