The Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT NOVA) is an asset to the urban and cultural space of the Almada area, a campus where intense technological and scientific education and research activities are carried out.

The FCT NOVA Library opened in its current building in September 2006. This change enabled a focus on culture, innovation, and knowledge. National and international projects were initiated, new partnerships were established, and a strong focus was placed on supporting the development of information literacy skills and research.

Comprising several structures (the auditorium, the exhibition hall, an informal reading room, the Digital Fabrication Laboratory, the bar, and the courtyard) and a large outdoor space, the FCT NOVA Library now hosts an annual cultural program with diverse offerings including exhibitions, film, theater, music, and more. The Library has thus become a hub for neighboring communities, who use it not only for its reading material but also for its strong cultural component.

This itinerary highlights the spacious Exhibition Room and the permanent collection, which has been built through constant exhibition activity. Over time, art has emerged and inhabited the space in various forms and expressions, encompassing painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, video, installations, and other artistic objects.

Naturally, the FCT NOVA Library promotes knowledge and revalues indoor and outdoor environments, fostering privileged relationships between users, space, science, art, culture, and life.
