+Lisboa – Lisboa vista pela ciência
Organic Unit: FCSH
Research Center: ICNOVA
+Lisboa – Lisboa seen by science is a multiplatform editorial platform led by ICNOVA researchers with the aim of communicating the research on the city of Lisbon done by professors and researchers of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. Art and history are among the topics covered.
Launched in 2016, the +Lisboa – Lisboa seen by science platform brings together hundreds of curiosities, memories, interventions and differentiated itineraries of Lisbon, from a collection of over 700 master’s and doctoral theses, articles, book chapters, books and research projects. There are more than 350 articles, 10 scripts and a six-episode podcast.
The project, at https://maislisboa.fcsh.unl.pt/, aims to open the research done on Lisbon at NOVA FCSH to the general public, in a simple, functional, and attractive way. This is a pioneering initiative in Portugal, connecting the Faculty to the city and enhancing the communication of science and culture, following a trend that is taking place in the most important European capitals.
From the city of Lisbon, the themes addressed on the platform are varied: Arts (architecture, performing arts, visual arts, literature, museums, and music), History (buildings, places, people), Society, Urbanism and Itineraries. The possibilities are multiple, which allows the reader, on a single platform, to find out more about Lisbon’s former working class yards and housing, the city’s maritime archaeology or its urban art, among many other examples.
Coordinated by Dora Santos Silva (ICNOVA – Media & Journalism research group), the project has the collaboration of students from the departments of Communication Sciences and History, in a BPL (Project-Based Learning) perspective.
