The project brings together IELT, Grupo Estudos Pessoanos of the University of São Paulo, Cologne Center for eHumanities and the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL), aiming at an exhaustive revision of the discussion around Fernando Pessoa’s work, taking as access points the concepts on which this discussion has been centered.
The project started from a need for renewal of Pessoan Studies, promoting a re-examination of the fundamental concepts of this field of studies, in particular those of author, heteronym, book, edition and fragment.
The idea of examination is here associated with that of estrangement from the familiarity of some of these notions and is conducted along three lines: bibliographical and archival research (works by Fernando Pessoa, published during his lifetime or through posthumous editions, critical literature on the work of Fernando Pessoa, documents from Fernando Pessoa’s estate); debate organized in specialized structures; preparation and publication of articles, editions and critical volumes.
The project generated the portal Digital Edition of Fernando Pessoa: Projects and Publications and the journal Estranhar Pessoa and promotes open seminars and colloquia, integrating a team of young researchers and renowned specialists.
