ITQB NOVA works in close partnership with the Ciência Viva Clubs at school in Oeiras. The institute assists the clubs from their conception, encouraging their creation, helping with applications to the network created by Ciência Viva and the implementation of projects. As a result, 10 of the municipality’s 11 school groups currently have clubs in one or more of their schools.
The institute supports the clubs on an ongoing basis, contributing to various initiatives such as kitchen laboratories, ecological soap and detergent factories, educational gardens, water quality analyses, science exhibitions and fairs, among others, built in tandem with the students, teachers and the educational community. ITQB NOVA provides personalized and targeted support to each of the clubs by supplying equipment, consumables, reagents and scientific mentoring for the development and execution of the various projects.
This support is not limited to the activities carried out in the context of the Science Club. The clubs act as a gateway to the schools, which have personalized projects developed in collaboration with the teachers and which radiate into the classrooms, reaching the entire school community.
