On Friday, November 14, 2025, starting at 7:00 p.m., the concert “Trio de Cordas de Beethoven” will take place in the Aula Magna of IHMT NOVA, performed by prestigious soloists from the Lisbon Metropolitana de Lisboa: Tolga Kulak on violin, Andrei Ratnikov on viola, and Jian Hong on cello. In this concert, the Soloists of the Metropolitana propose to take on the challenge of performing early works by two musicians who went on to become landmarks in the history of music.
The program includes works of recognized value—the String Trio, D. 471 by Franz Schubert and the String Trio, Op. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven. The string trio is a formation that makes life difficult for composers and performers. It does not allow for great dynamic variations or very marked expressive contrasts, also due to the timbral similarity of the instruments that compose it: the violin, the viola, and the cello. It therefore requires meticulously calculated conciseness in the writing, capable of drawing in the score the gestures necessary to awaken the listener’s imagination, which is only within the reach of the great masters of this art.
Tickets cost €7 and can be purchased at the venue on the day of the concert, preferably with prior reservation with Metropolitana via the same email address.
